Cherokee Lake Users Association- April 2016 Minutes


CLUA's meeting minutes of Tuesday, April 12, 20l6, held at the Good Sheppard Lutheran Church at 6:30 p.m.

Rick called the meeting to order, all officers were present. Board members present - Jim Whiting, Fred Flynn & his wife Marge, Frank Dubey and George Prolos. Absent Gene Dunn , Pat Patton, Dave Lemon and Allan Schwegler. Also present were new members Dave & Leanna Toll who will be replacing Lynne Listes on the board representing Hawkins County. Kathy Dubey requested that we start our meeting with a pledge of allegiance, to which all approved.

Donna gave her treasurer's report, we now have a balance of $4,218.67. Our clean-up cost were as follows $720 ad in newspapers, $l47 for stamps, $84.49 for banners for trash containers. TVA gave us $l,500 for trash containers, which actually ending up costing us $l,l00. Outstanding will be our expense for restaurant vouchers. We own Banners and signage. Just need businesses to put lawn signs up for us. Get word around.

Clean up Info - We had 4 boats at the Dam plus a TVA boat and l5 volunteers. Black Oak and Gilmore donated a boat. 4 boats and 23 volunteers at Gilmore, 28 volunteers total.
15 were students C-N. Donna mentioned that C-N is having a clean-up on Nov. 5th. Julie and Tim Pruitt were at the Dam. Fred Graham and Brian Stewart were at Lakeside.

Total trash estimated at 4,840 lbs.

Donna mentioned that we have 74 members. Renewal letters sent to members of which we had email addresses, mailed letters were sent to persons on our mailing list. Frank and Fred have not received email or letter for renewal. Frank suggested that we inform KAB our the results of our clean-up, Donnal will handle.

Water sampling discussion took place, we will try to continue.

Adopt a Barrel Program is important to our success. Nice if not to do clean ups. Lawn signs will go out on islands with barrels. Get them from Donna.

Donna said we have 2 new members Sharon Combs & Kirk & Melissa Johnson.

Wani Village will host our June 4th picnic/election meeting.

Rick Stratford then announced that as of this meeting he is resigning as VP and will not serve on the board but will maintain his membership. He recommended George Polos take his place.
Board Members needed to keep Association continued on the path we are going. We are getting word out, advocating and working with students. All good. Need people to continue momentum

Next meeting Good Shepard May 9th 6:30pm. June meeting at picnic June 4th. Wani Village , Rutledge instead of Good Shepard

Meeting adjourned at 8PM.
