Cherokee Lake Users Association- February 2016 Minutes

Our first meeting of year was held on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 6:30 pm at Good Sheppard Lutheran Church. Officers and board member present: Tom Schumann, Rick Stratford, Kathy Dubey, Frank Dubey, Jim Whiting, Gene Dunn, Alan Schwegler, Members Bruce Mueller, Richard & Elizabeth Sheppard of Wani, and George Prolos. Absent with notice Pat Patton, Donna Dunn, Dave Lemon, Fred Flynn, absent L. Listes.

Rick called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm Motion made and seconded for minutes of our last meeting. Gene gave the treasurer's report, and commented that we had received a check for $l,500 from TVA for our lake cleanup trash dumpsters. Motion was made and seconded to approved the report.

Rick then gave a brief rundown of our April 9th Lake Clean Up. Black Oak, Gilmore and Lakeside with have the dumpsters. Rick will contact Brian (TVA) and Frank/Kathy will email the minutes to Brian, Tim and Julie. Rick will asking for supplies and boat from TVA like they furnished during our last clean-up. We will also contact suppliers for Gifts. Gene will handle Black Oak location, Rick - Gilmore and Dave - Lakeside. Donna will contact C-N and Rick wanted Frank & Flynn to contact Walter State; however Jim Whiting has a friend to who works at Walter State and will contact her. Bruce has maps that he will bring to next meeting. We need to get articles in the 3 local papers. Ads to be discussed at next meeting. Rick mentioned the Grainger Co has not scheduled their County Cleanup.
Group approved going to a restaurant (Boathouse on Hwy 25) after the cleanup, Frank will contact owner and see what can be arranged.

Renewal application should be mailed in April. We have aproximately 50 paid up members from last year. Our water sampling will continue, Frank will be talking to Pat about getting all data on website. Discussion followed on different samplings that can be taken, George Proios was involved in water sampling and will bring further info to our next meeting. Bruce stated (this is something that has occurred repeatedly but never has been resolved) that once we get data that turns out negative, WHAT do we do with it, this has to be resolved.

Anyone interested - on March l8th, you can hand out candy for Easter with CofC Morristown.

Jim asked for 2 more barrels to be put on GPS locations, locations will be given to Bruce for proper location on maps.

George Proios was introduced and motion was made and seconded to place George on the board, his knowledge of water sampling will be valuable to CLUA.

Motion to adjourn made and seconded at 7:30 pm.

MONTHLY MEETING: 2nd Tuesday of the Month- 6:30pm Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on West AJ- across from St Patrick Catholic Church and right next to Sonic.
