1). Meeting Called to Order: DD
• Meeting was called to order at 6:40 pm.

2). Guest Speaker: Kat Morliak, President of Keep Morristown/Hamblin Beautiful (KMHB)
• Is an affiliate of Keep American Beautiful, Inc. since 1985.
• Strives to lead the community by example in environmental education; litter prevention, community greening and waste minimization through recycling. Their mission is to empower individuals to take greater responsibility for their community environment.
• Would like to help CLUA with providing supplies (pickers, bags, gloves), advertising, and volunteering for upcoming events.
• They are currently looking for a part time employee to assist with directing.
• They meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Morristown Chambers of Morristown in the downstairs level.
• KD has been assigned as the CLUA Rep with KMHB and will attend their meetings.


3). President Report – TS
• TS reported four CLUA representatives assisted the Access Life with their annual event in August 2017. Access Life is a non-profit organization for families and individuals living with disabilities. The event included boat rides, fishing and kayaking to approx. 600 disabled individuals.

5). Committee Reports

a. Jefferson County:
1. Action Item: Check with local department of sanitation to get dumpster at a marina or public boat launch free for clean ups.
2. Action item: CLUA County Reps should approach any marina not currently a member.
3. Action item: Local newspaper should have CLUA meeting and events announcement.

b. Hamblen County – FD
1. Action Item: Check with local department of sanitation to get dumpster by a marina or public boat launch for clean ups.
2. Action item: CLUA County Reps should approach any marina not currently a member.
3. Action item: Local newspaper should have CLUA meeting and events announcement.

c. Hawkins County – DT & LT
1. Action Item: Check with local department of sanitation to get dumpster by a marina or public boat launch.
2. Action item: CLUA County Reps should approach any marina not currently a member.
3. Action Item: Chelaque Estates Litter Clean-up to be coordinated with Dave Toll with community this fall.
4. Action Item: DT/LT to get CLUA monthly meeting and Fall Clean up in Rogersville Review.

d. Grainger County – JW
1. Action Item: Check with local department of sanitation to get dumpster by a marina or public boat launch.
2. Action item: CLUA County Reps should approach any marina not currently a member.
3. Action item: Local newspaper should have CLUA meeting and events announcement.

6). Adopt a Barrel Report:
• BM was absent
• Action Item for next meeting: BM to compile a complete list of location of all barrels.
• Action Item: LT Create a page on CLUA Website of the Barrel locations.

7). Treasurer’s Report: DD
Report for period ended July 31, 2017:

A. Cash Account, Disbursements and upcoming expenses:
• Checking account – balance is $3,561.
• Income - $210 month, $210 YTD.
• Disbursements - $175 month, $569 YTD.
• Upcoming expenses: promotional items, barrels and supplies, Carson Newman (Dr. Karr) donation of $100 was approved by Board, Good Sheppard Church donation of $25 was approved by Board, and $120 radio advertising was approved by Board.
• Advertising in Morristown Annual Magazine and online account $285 declined.

B. Grants
a. TVA 2017 is $2,500 treasurer report shows how funds being used. 2018 Grant will be requested again.
b. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Habitat Protection Program 2016-17 - $500 granted for provision of aquatic stream clean up funds will be coming soon.
c. TWRA 2017-18 Grant - $750. Approved.

8). Water Sampling:
• 3rd Tuesday of each month.
• Generate map of all water quality sampling locations (coordinate with the barrel sites).
• August Water Quality Report has been uploaded in CLUA website.



9). Membership
• List of members were distributed at meeting for review.
• Currently have 65 members and 4 marinas.
• Action Item: LT will update changes.


10). New Business
• New Secretary, LT, collecting CLUA documentation for electronic file. Action Item: Email LT any prior records.

11). Fall Clean-up
• Boats needed for Carson Newman University students. The more boats CLUA provides the more students can be included. Anywhere from 60 – 80 students possible.
• Finalize marina locations, including possibly, German Creek, Black Oaks, Gilmore and Cedar Hill.
• Work with the marinas to provide more boats and overall assistance.
• Need information from CLUA and TVA on shorelines and areas for clean-up. {? Names}
• CLUA Board Approved radio advertising with new radio station, TruthFM 91.9 for Fall Clean-up
• Event to post in local papers and radio stations in community events.


12). Next Meeting
• The next BOD meeting will be on October 10, at 6:30 pm.
• Invited guests: Julie Graham, Executive Director, Middle East Tennessee Tourism Council and Brian Steward, TVA.

13). Meeting Adjourned
• Meeting adjourned at 8:42 pm.
