1). Meeting Called to Order: DD
• Meeting was called to order at 6:35 pm.

• No report in November

3). President Report – TS

4). Vice President Report – GP
• Clean Water Network (CLN) is addressing possible lead contamination to drinking water in schools
• CLN continues to follow-up and monitor Holston River illegal discharge from Army Munitions Kingsport Plant.
• CLN wants additional members, especially in East Tennessee. GP handed out applications.

5). Committee Reports

a. Jefferson County - TS
• Dumpster delivered to Black Oak Marina for fall clean-up in 2017 Nov 4th from Jefferson County.
• Black Oak is a CLUA Member and donated boat and utility boat for use at clean up.
• Standard Banner is posting article about Fall Clean Up event and meeting in community section. WJDT radio did not do interview but made announcement and will announce results of clean up. Truth FM radio 91.1 FM posting event of October. Chamber of Commerce announced event and was sent press release to add clean up results in next newsletter
1. Action item: CLUA County Reps should approach any marina and any local Home Owners Association not currently a member.

b. Hamblen County – FD
• Keep Morristown/Hamblin Beautiful (KMHB): Did their clean up on Nov 4th. Pictures posted on Facebook and in press release.
• Bob from Citizen Tribune contacted Donna. She gave him results of clean up and pictures.
• ? if meeting posted in Community section
• Keep Morristown/Hamblen Beautiful (KMHB): GP said he recently became president of KMHB. He is making contact with Hamblen County Chamber of Commerce to assist with possible Cherokee clean water activities, such as providing ‘matching’ funding to assist land owners with reducing agriculture pollution runoff.

c. Hawkins County – DT & LT
• DT coordinated an effort on November 8 with the HoA of Chelaque to clean-up their lake shores. Over 35 bags were collected along with several tires and other debris by 11 volunteers. Supplies were provided by TVA and CLUA.
• Press Release acknowledged by Christy Aviles of Rogersville Review thru email.
1. Action item: CLUA County Reps should approach any marina and if possible local Home Owners Association not currently a member. No marinas in Hawkins county.
2. Action Item: DT/LT to get CLUA monthly meeting in Rogersville Review. Will redo community news for monthly meeting that will start Feb 2018 – Nov 2018.

d. Grainger County – JW
• Grainger Sanitation provided us a dumpster for our Fall clean-up on Nov 4, 2017
• German Creek Marina donated a boat for use for Fall clean-up.
• Grainger Today had CLUA meeting and events announcement. They also came to Clean up and
o Article published quickly before our press release. Paper was passed around at meeting.
• Jim Whiting in process of CLUA joining Chamber of Commerce.

6). Adopt a Barrel Report:
• RS reported he had two barrels recently stolen. For one place it was the second time. For that location he will no longer provide a barrel but will pick-up trash.
• Gene Dunn has 2 barrels that are not listed that have been located.
• Action Item for next meeting: RS will help update list of location of all barrels on to maps.
• Action Item: LT help create a page on CLUA Website of the Barrel locations.

7). Treasurer’s Report: DD
Report for period ended October 31, 2017:

A. Cash Account, Disbursements and upcoming expenses: copy of bank account. Report will be submitted next week.
• Checking account – balance is $2827.85. Income - $500 month, $710 YTD. (Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Habitat Protection Program 2016-17 funds received)
• Disbursements $287.70 ($100TWCN/ $140.00 Morristown Chamber Dues $25 Good Shepard donation $15 George Prios, meeting expense and $7.70 promotion cost Facebook)
• Upcoming expenses- Clean up receipts to be paid to any members, Grainger County Chamber of Commerce Membership fee

8). Water Sampling:
• 3rd Tuesday of each month. October was our last sampling for 2017.
• BS said TVA will provide Cherokee maps so we can manually summarize water quality locations. DT will help transfer information for the web site.
• GP said he will evaluate possible purchase of a probe or a sensor for addition water quality sampling parameters (e.g., dissolved oxygen and temperature).
• Action Item: DT help generate map and summary table of all water quality sampling locations (coordinate with the barrel sites).

9). Membership
• Currently have 66 members and 4 marinas.

10). New Business
• Work over winter to expand spring clean-up and advocate to get members to come to next meeting in February.

11). Fall Clean-up
• See attached Press Release for details of event.
• Pros and Cons of Fall Event:
o JG said to work harder to maximize time students spent at event. The students were late again, reducing time available. However, Carson Newman students did stay longer and were an overall excellent asset to our clean-up.
o Overall work harder to get more boats and participants.
o GP will see if Walter State students may be able to participate for the spring clean-up.
o DT said to try and organize as many Cherokee HoAs and marinas as possible to expand clean-up efforts.
o Group tentatively recommended to have the Spring 2018 clean-up on Saturday April 21. The 2018 Earth Day is Sunday April 22.

12). Next Meeting
• The next BOD meeting will be on Feb 13th at 6:30 pm. First meeting of 2018 need to confirm
Spring Clean Up date (? April 21, 2018).
