New minute format was reviewed.
It was agreed by all member that the review process of
emailing and giving 4 days response from members for updates and
corrections was acceptable to all.
Might be exceptions if someone is on vacation.

FD gave copies of the Bylaws and
2010 Water Sample Sites for Agency record collection.
It was agreed by the Board that the Bylaws should be
included in the website.

Clean Water Network, Renee Hoyos, Executive Director interviewed
GM for board membership.

Walter State, contacted by GP. One teacher gave students option
of volunteering for November 4th clean-up instead of
making up a lab for the semester.

Sierra Club is looking for Director for Tennessee Chapter.
·
Drinking Water Act, adding toxic level of algae to list of
contaminates.

event and will be in community section.

Hamblen County –
FD

FD mentioned an article from April 2015 in the NEWS SENTINEL
concerning the Holsten River being named among America’s Most
Endangered Rivers in an annual report released by American
Rivers, and Renee Hoyos, executive director of Tennessee Clean
Water Network being quoted “Clean water and healthy rivers are
vital to Tennessee’s heritage and the health of our families and
communities” but not much concern with water quality.

Keep Morristown/Hamblin Beautiful (KMHB):
KD did attend meeting monthly meeting.
KMHB has become a member of CLUA.
KMHB will not be doing Boo Feast for 2017.

Hawkins County – DT & LT
·
LT attended the Rogersville/Hawkins County Chamber of Commerce
meeting on September 26, 2017.
She did a small presentation on the fall clean up, had
brochures available for interested parties, and gave CLUA towels
for door prize give away.

No marinas in Hawkins county.
Julie Graham recommended to contact Fall Creek Marina and
Legacy Bay HOA in the next few months for clean-up work and
membership.
Recommends to also investigate any other HOA’s in Cherokee.

Chelaque Estates Litter Clean-up to be coordinated with Dave
Toll with community this fall.
Conflict with November 4th date, but will
select a weekday in November for shoreline cleanup.

Report for period ended September 30, 2017:
A.
Cash Account, Disbursements and upcoming expenses:

Checking account – balance is $2,616.
·
Income - $0 month, $210 YTD.
·
Disbursements - $552 month, $1,121 YTD.
·
Upcoming expenses:
funding’s of approx. $206 left from fall clean-up will be used
for supplies, approved donations from prior month will be
distributed. Morristown
area Chamber of Commerce membership and Tennessee’s Clean Water
donation of $100 were approved by Board.
B.
Grants
a.
TVA 2017 grant of $2,500 in treasurer report shows how funds are
being used. 2018
Grant will be requested again.
b.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Habitat Protection Program
2016-17 - $500 granted for provision of aquatic stream clean up.
Funds will be coming soon.
c.
TWRA 2017-18 Grant - $750. Approved.
8).
Water Sampling:
·
3rd Tuesday of each month.
October will be last testing in 2017.
·
September Water Quality Report will be uploaded in CLUA website
along with other monthly updates.
The levels of coliforms reported have dropped from the
prior month and is overall much lower than last year.
The increased rainfall
and water flow likely contributed to the reduced 1017 levels.
·

Generate map and summary table of all water quality sampling
locations (coordinate with the barrel sites).

Membership
·
New member - KMHB
·
Currently have 66 members and 4 marinas.
·
Action Item: LT

10). New
Business
·
Urgent Need for Boats for November 4th Clean-up.
Have approx. 6 boats and TVA barge.
Still advertising/searching for volunteers for boats.
If necessary, will rent boats from local marina’s.
11).
Fall Clean-up
·
With assistance of Julia Graham (JG), and her inputs from TVA,
locations for the Fall Clean-up were determined.
·
TVA will meet at German Creek at 9:30 a.m.
Students time is very limited -
Expected time of event is 2 hours.
·
A dumpster will be needed at German Creek from Grainger County.
JW to call department of Sanitation in Grainger County.
Per JG, there should be a Place and Pick for the dumpster
from clean-up site.
·
Clean up areas will be shorelines and islands surrounding German
Creek, Black Oaks, and JC Park.
Priority will be getting as many students on boats and
barges with the rest for shoreline clean-up.
·
Still expecting 60 – 80 students.
·
Count must be complete
AND all waivers must be completed and signed
AND safety training
must be completed before
students are allowed to exit buses.
·
DD must be notified by email for supplies needed for the event
ASAP.
